Knowing that [the front porch] would be the focal point of the house, we wanted only the finest artisans in all of Portland to bring the old porch back to life – this had become a labor of love! My daughter, a landscape architect, researched several local design firms, and after meeting with Wade Freitag, decided that Craftsman Design and Renovation was clearly the one for the job. They replaced the rotted decking and steps with tongue and groove cedar flooring, meticulously installed the custom-milled fretwork, and pieced it all together for a perfect fit. To us it looked spectacular – definitely a job well done. The house was even given an “honorable mention” in the working tour section of the 2005 Historic Irvington Home Tour guidebook for its new look.
