As with many newer homes, this house had a large, open living area that lacked function and a strong identity, despite the home’s allusions to a Craftsman style. We created a focal point by centering the fireplace and encasing it with cherry cabinetry; retractable doors hide the television above, allowing the family’s piano to take its former space.
The Craftsman statement is emphasized by leaded glass, custom hearth tile with accents, and corbels supporting the mantle. Built-in bookshelves and period-appropriate columns create entries into the room, which boasts a hickory floor with mahogany accents.
