What Our Clients Say

We cannot say enough good things about working with Craftsman Design. This was the 3rd or 4th job we have had them do at our house and it is always a pleasure to see them work their magic. We will always consider them as our first choice for future projects. Everyone from the design team through the sub contractors were wonderful and a pleasure to have around the house while they were doing the work.

Jim & Catherine

This was my second major home project with Craftsman Design and Renovation. They are a great design company to work with from start to finish. I know that everything will be completed as promised, problems will be solved, and that I am working with a team of competent professionals. It feels like you have a team of friends working on your house and they are very invested in your satisfaction with the end product.

Ashley

We appreciated the attention Craftsman gave to our needs as homeowners and their thoughtfulness throughout the project. Craftsman followed through with their commitments at every point in the project and each team member was easy to work with and trustworthy. Having people like that in our home made the entire renovation process easier. We would choose Craftsman again for any remodel project we might do.

Dan

Our project was repairing, restoring, and replacing one of a kind decorative ornamental features on our 1892 Queen Anne. Craftsman Designs demonstrated the ability to understand and problem-solve for period historical accuracy, prepare detailed architectural drawings, and possess the necessary master carpentry skills that met our every expectation. They are first class in their attention to detail. We smile whenever we look at the detailing and receive compliments from friends, neighbors and family.

Bob & Susan

They really came through on helping the design we had in our heads come to fruition. The lead carpenter, Noah was great to work with and listened really well. I appreciated the attention to all the little details. We lived in our home during the remodel and they made every effort to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. Excellent company!

Heidi

The team turned our typical old house scary basement into an amazing family space complete with closed off laundry room, bathroom and storage that is now our favorite room in our house. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was excellent. I feel as though everyone on the team, including all the trades people that worked with them, went above and beyond what was expected in some way or another. Going through a renovation with 2 toddlers can make a stressful situation that much more stressful. Everyone was very respectful of our family, our home and our schedule.

Christy & David

This is the second time my wife and I have hired Wade and his team from Craftsman Design & Renovation. Our house is a 1912 Craftsman, and they have completely renovated the porch/carport, and the ground floor rooms except the kitchen (entry, living room, dining room, family room, bathroom and bedroom). We expect to hire them again in a year or two for a major upstairs project. We love our neighborhood, and now we have the house we wanted in a place we don’t want to leave. They have restored so much character that was lost in remodels by a prior owner in the 1960s and 1970s. Craftsman Design’s work, from initial design through the final walk-through, is of the highest quality. They work carefully with the client on detailed plans and specifications. Our experience is that this diligent and conscientious approach to planning the project is indispensable — when you sign a contract with Craftsman Design, you can have confidence about exactly what work they are going to do, and how much it will cost. If you are looking for a “low bid” remodel, Craftsman Design probably isn’t the crew for you. If you are looking for a team that communicates with you, does high quality work, and will make you fall in love with your house, we couldn’t recommend them more.

Kristin & Richard

Both my husband and I were thoroughly impressed with both the craftsmanship and professionalism of Craftsman Design and Remodel. The design, carpentry skills, and execution of both our living and dining room far exceeded our expectations. We were kept in the loop from start to finish and the work was completed in a timely manner. In addition, they even called to check in months later to make sure we were still satisfied and didn’t see anything to “touch up”. There work ethic, high standards, and quality craftsmanship deserves 5 stars.

Lauren & Brad

Of the many design-build choices in Portland, we feel fortunate to have used Craftsman Design and Renovation to re-do our kitchen. Their high professionalism and regard for our family’s daily routines, with an open atmosphere of problem solving and design ideas, left us grateful that we had found them. Our kitchen is now the focal point of our house. We cannot more highly recommend Wade Freitag and his crew. When our project was completed we were almost sad to see our ‘friends’ go.

Pete & Raelene

As we reflect on the remodel, we heartily agree that CDR has been all we hoped for. The design services, project management, and subcontractors have all been top shelf. And the most critical element, your timely availability and communications, has been wonderful, beyond what we’ve ever experienced during a house project. You are consummate professionals who clearly include a healthy empathy for your clients and what they are going through in a remodel. Thank you for everything!

Kimberly & Stephen

Superlative and satisfying — those two words sum up our feelings toward everyone at CDR. We began with a general vision in our mind’s eye and thanks to the creative design process we ended with a finished product that is even better than imagined. Construction flowed smoothly from one step to the next while staying true to our budget and timeline and we were treated with thoughtful respect by all involved. Although remodeling can be stressful at times, CDR worked diligently to pop any stress bubbles and keep our project moving along smoothly so that now we can pop our own happiness bubbles. We are so thankful we chose to work with CDR and definitely will do so in the future. Thanks, everyone!

Susan & Bart

I love it! These cabinets are so beautiful, I can’t imagine that they weren’t already here. And that’s the sign of a project done well.

Kim & Justin

We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with all of you these past few months. We felt we were in such good hands throughout the entire process, and are so impressed with your outstanding design and execution. Thank you for your fine work!

Melissa & Steven

Now that the kitchen remodel is done and we are finally in it, both B. and I are realizing that it is above and beyond better than we ever dreamed it was going to be. We love it so much more than I ever thought we would. Thanks again for everything. We have really enjoyed working with everyone at Craftsman. You truly did make this remodel a piece of cake for us and we are thrilled with our new kitchen!

Margaret & Bill

We were delighted with the work performed by Craftsman Design and Renovation. The project was well managed, very professional and the quality of work was high. Thank you!

Fiona & Michael

We had a very positive experience with Craftsman Design and Renovation. The outcome of our renovation exceeded expectations. Wade did an excellent job with the design, (carpenters) Jeff and Hector were amazing – very skilled and professional, and the subcontractors did very high-quality work. It made a huge difference to have things cleaned up so well on the jobsite at the end of each day. Plus, everyone was kind and courteous, and patient with the kids. We truly appreciate this project being on time and on budget. Thank you! We will not hesitate to refer others to your business.

Marci

The best decision I ever made was to work with you. It is obvious you are skilled at what you do, professional, and honest. What a reassuring feeling for a homeowner.

Gail

Craftsman Design and Renovation did a significant master bathroom remodel for us. The project tasks and work schedule were very well defined and managed with confidence. The workers, being skilled craftsmen, did a commendable job. Highly recommended!

Bart & Karen

It was a delight to find Wade. Not only was he pleasant to work with, he came in on time and under budget, and you’d never know where he repaired the ant and water damage on our old house. His crew went out of their way to keep the site clean so we could still use the living room while it was being worked on. I heartily recommend him!

Dale & Darcy

Our house went from being the neighborhood’s neglected stepchild to the belle of the ball.

Lester & Heather

The architect/contractor was responsive to our needs for an aesthetically pleasing and functional porch. The architect/contractor provided various design options and educated us about how to restore our porch to a period-appropriate design. We are more delighted with our house than we ever could have imagined.

Josh

This project was our first remodel and we had no idea what to expect. It was important for us to work with someone who shared our vision of creating a space that honored the attention to detail and the aesthetic of the original builders. We were fortunate that the collaboration with our contractor was characterized by a mutual respect and a synergy that brought out the best in all of us.

John & Julie

Your designs for our kitchen and bathrooms were visually compelling, beautifully efficient and, amazingly, both practical and luxurious. The work of your employees and subcontractors in executing these designs was of the highest quality.

Frosti

It has been more than a year now since Craftsman Design and Renovation gutted our kitchen and two bathrooms and rebuilt them in keeping with the Arts and Crafts style of our home. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Every now and then, as we are cooking together in this still new kitchen, we marvel at how roomy it is now, how much more convenient everything is than before, and you didn’t have to move any walls to make it bigger. Why didn’t we do this years ago?

Steve

I can’t say enough good things about Wade and his crew. They were creative, responsive, prompt and unobtrusive, resulting in a bathroom that wows all who see it. Just walking in it every morning brings a smile to my face.
